ICC Men’s Player of the Month nominees for February 2025 announced

Dubai, March 7, 2025: The International Cricket Council (ICC) has unveiled the nominees for the Men’s Player of the Month award for February 2025, recognizing standout performances in international cricket.

Steve Smith (Australia)

Veteran Australian batter Steve Smith excelled during the Test series against Sri Lanka, scoring 141 and 131 in the two matches, finishing with a remarkable strike rate of 136.00. His performances earned him the Player of the Series award.

In the ODI series, Smith registered scores of 12 and 29 before heading into the ICC Champions Trophy 2025, which is set to be his final international tournament in the format. There, he scored 5 against England and remained unbeaten on 19 against Afghanistan.

Shubman Gill (India)

Indian opener Shubman Gill was in sublime form, amassing 406 runs in five ODIs at an average of 101.50 and a strike rate of 94.19.

His standout performances included three crucial knocks against England in their 3-0 series victory 87 in Nagpur, 60 in Cuttack and 112 in Ahmedabad.

Named Player of the Series, Gill carried his form into the ICC Champions Trophy 2025, smashing an unbeaten 101 against Bangladesh and a valuable 46 against Pakistan.

Glenn Phillips (New Zealand)

New Zealand’s Glenn Phillips impressed with his all-round brilliance, particularly excelling in the field while also making vital contributions with the bat.

In five ODIs, he scored 236 runs at a blistering strike rate of 124.21, playing a key role in New Zealand’s tri-series victory in Pakistan. His performances included 106 vs Pakistan (Lahore), 28 vs South Africa (Lahore) and 20 vs Pakistan (Karachi).

Phillips maintained his form in the ICC Champions Trophy, scoring 61 against Pakistan (Karachi) and an unbeaten 21 against Bangladesh (Rawalpindi).

With Smith, Gill, and Phillips all delivering stellar performances, the race for the ICC Men’s Player of the Month award promises to be highly competitive.
