Dubai, March 7, 2025: Indian cricket superstar Virat Kohli is on the brink of achieving significant records as he prepares for the ICC Men’s Champions Trophy 2025 final against New Zealand at the Dubai International Cricket Stadium on Sunday.

Kohli, who rediscovered his form with a stunning century against Pakistan, has already become India’s highest run-scorer in Champions Trophy history. His composed 84-run knock in the semi-final against Australia further solidified his dominance in the tournament.

Now, the star batter stands just 46 runs away from surpassing Chris Gayle’s record of 791 runs in 17 innings, which would make him the leading run-scorer in Champions Trophy history. Additionally, a 55-run innings in the final would see him overtake Sri Lanka’s Kumar Sangakkara to become the second-highest run-scorer in men’s ODI cricket.

Kohli currently boasts 14,180 ODI runs from 301 innings, trailing Sangakkara’s tally of 14,234. Both legends remain behind only Sachin Tendulkar, India’s cricketing icon, who leads the all-time list with 18,426 runs in 463 innings.

With the final set to be a high-stakes clash, Kohli has the chance to etch his name even deeper into cricket’s history books.
