Lahore, March 9, 2025: Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz has directed authorities to ensure the implementation of the minimum wage across the province. Chairing a meeting attended by Minister for Labour Faisal Ayub Khokhar and other officials, she set Rs37,000 as the minimum monthly wage for workers in Punjab.

During the meeting, Maryam Nawaz also called for a comprehensive plan to develop labour colonies across the province. She instructed officials to revamp social security hospitals and establish Wellness Centers for pre-screening in Lahore, Rawalpindi, and Islamabad. Additionally, it was decided to construct a 200-bed Rehmatul Alamin Cardiology Center on Lahore’s Defence Road and approve a 50-bed Social Security Hospital in Rahim Yar Khan.

Emphasizing workers’ welfare, the chief minister directed amendments to labour laws to enhance their rights and benefits. She reiterated that labourers are “friends of Allah” and vowed to make Punjab a model province for worker welfare. She underscored the government’s responsibility to ensure fair wages, quality healthcare, improved employment opportunities, and adequate housing for workers.
