Islamabad, March 18, 2025: Chief of Army Staff (COAS) General Syed Asim Munir has emphasized the need for strong governance and national unity in the fight against terrorism, warning against a “soft state” approach that continues to cost precious lives.

Addressing the Parliamentary Committee on National Security on Tuesday, General Munir questioned how long the gaps in governance would be filled by the sacrifices of Pakistan’s armed forces and martyrs. He stressed that national security must take precedence over political interests, urging all stakeholders to align their priorities with the country’s stability.

He further called for a harmonized national approach, asserting that Pakistan’s survival and future generations depend on the collective efforts of all elements of national power.

The army chief urged religious scholars to play their role in countering extremist ideologies, particularly those propagated by groups like the Khawarij. He emphasized the need to expose distorted interpretations of Islam and promote the religion’s true teachings.

Reaffirming the military’s commitment to national security, General Munir sent a clear message to those supporting terrorists, stating:

“They will soon realize that not only will we defeat them, but also their facilitators.”

He stressed that Pakistan’s security is paramount, urging political and national leaders to adopt a unified stance in the interest of the country’s defense.

Ending on a note of resolve, General Munir expressed confidence that, with trust in Allah, Pakistan will emerge victorious in securing its future.
