Islamabad, March 19, 2025: The federal government has officially declared a three-day public holiday for Eidul Fitr, from March 31 to April 2.
According to a notification issued by the Cabinet Secretariat, the prime minister has approved these dates as public holidays to mark the religious occasion, allowing citizens to celebrate the festival from Monday to Wednesday.
Meanwhile, the Central Ruet-e-Hilal Committee will convene on Sunday, March 30, 2025 (Ramazan 29, 1446 AH), to sight the Shawwal moon, which will determine the exact date for Eidul Fitr. The meeting, held at the Ministry of Religious Affairs and Interfaith Harmony, will bring together religious scholars, meteorologists, and other experts to assess moon sighting reports from across the country.
Earlier, in February 2025, the Pakistan Space & Upper Atmosphere Research Commission (Suparco) provided astronomical forecasts for the Ramadan and Shawwal crescents. Based on scientific calculations, the Shawwal moon is expected to be visible on March 30, suggesting that Eidul Fitr will likely be observed on March 31, 2025.
