Weekly inflation rises, overall rate recorded at 14.36%.

Islamabad, September 13, 2024-The Bureau of Statistics has reported a 0.01% increase in inflation over the past week. The latest weekly data shows that the overall inflation rate now stands at 14.36%. According to the report, prices for 15 items increased, 14 items saw price decreases, and 22 items remained stable.

The Bureau highlighted that the price of tomatoes rose by 7.40 PKR per kilogram, while live chicken became 16.07 PKR more expensive per kilogram. Electricity costs also went up by 0.26 PKR per unit. Other price hikes included chickpeas, which increased by 9.26 PKR, garlic by 12 PKR per kilogram, beef by 11 PKR per kilogram, and mutton by 14 PKR per kilogram. Items like fresh milk, yogurt, ghee, and broken Basmati rice also experienced price increases.

On the other hand, the price of bananas dropped by up to 8 PKR per dozen, while mash lentils decreased by 8 PKR per kilogram. A 20-kilogram bag of flour became 17 PKR cheaper, and the price of eggs fell by 3 PKR per dozen. Potatoes saw a price reduction of 0.82 PKR per kilogram. Additionally, items like mung lentils, masoor lentils, onions, edible oil, and sugar were also among those that became cheaper during the week.
