Rawalpindi, April 6, 2025: Pakistan’s security forces successfully thwarted an attempted infiltration by a group of militants from across the Pakistan-Afghanistan border during the night of April 5-6, the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) said in a statement on Sunday.

According to ISPR, troops picked up suspicious movement in the Hassan Khel area of North Waziristan District, where a group of terrorists—referred to as Khwarij—was attempting to cross into Pakistani territory.

“Our troops effectively engaged the group and foiled their infiltration attempt,” the statement said. An intense exchange of fire ensued, during which eight militants were killed, and four others sustained injuries.

Following the encounter, a sanitization operation was launched in the area to ensure the presence of no remaining hostile elements. The security forces remain vigilant and fully committed to defending the nation’s borders and eliminating the threat of terrorism, the ISPR added.

The statement also reiterated Pakistan’s longstanding demand from the Interim Afghan Government to enhance border security and prevent the use of Afghan soil by terrorists targeting Pakistan.

“Pakistan has consistently urged the Interim Afghan Government to ensure effective border management and fulfill its obligations by denying sanctuary to terrorist elements,” the ISPR said.

The military reaffirmed its resolve to combat terrorism and maintain peace and stability in the region.
