Mianwali, April 21, 2025: In a significant counterterrorism effort, at least 10 terrorists were killed in a joint operation conducted by Punjab’s Counter Terrorism Department (CTD) and local police in the Makarwal area of Mianwali on Monday.

According to a police spokesperson, the raid was launched based on intelligence reports indicating the presence of armed militants in the region. During the operation, several other suspects were also injured, while all law enforcement personnel remained unharmed.

One civilian, a local resident, was reportedly shot in the leg by the terrorists during the exchange of fire and was promptly shifted to a nearby hospital for treatment.

Inspector General of Punjab Police, Dr. Usman Anwar, commended the Mianwali police and CTD teams for the successful mission. He reaffirmed that Punjab police remain vigilant and fully committed to thwarting all terrorist threats.

Mianwali, which borders Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, has seen repeated attacks on security checkpoints in recent months, highlighting the strategic importance and volatility of the area.

In related developments, the CTD also arrested 10 suspected terrorists in a series of intelligence-based operations conducted across multiple cities, including Lahore, Rawalpindi, Gujranwala, Bahawalpur, and Jhelum.

Among the detainees were two high-profile suspects, identified as Badal Singh and Suraj Singh, apprehended in Rawalpindi. Both individuals are originally from Nankana Sahib and are believed to have been involved in planning major attacks.

During the operations, CTD officials recovered a cache of explosives, including improvised explosive devices (IEDs), 16 detonators, extremist pamphlets, cash, and mobile phones.

Authorities have stated that investigations are ongoing, and further arrests are expected as part of an intensified crackdown on terrorist networks across the province.
