Sialkot, April 21, 2025: The Sialkot Chamber of Commerce and Industry (SCCI) has officially announced its members’ participation in the upcoming Single Country Exhibition in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia, scheduled for May 15–17, 2025. The exhibition is strategically aligned with the “Invest in Ethiopia” Business Forum, set to take place just days earlier on May 12–13.
The announcement was made by Ikram ul Haq, President of the Sialkot Chamber, during a high-level Business Forum co-chaired by Dr. Jemal Beker Abdula, Special Envoy and Ambassador Extraordinary of the Federal Democratic Republic of Ethiopia to Pakistan.
The forum was a joint initiative of the Ethiopian Embassy in Islamabad, the Sialkot Chamber, Pakistan’s Ministry of Commerce, and the Trade Development Authority of Pakistan (TDAP), aimed at boosting bilateral trade and investment.
In his address, Ambassador Dr. Jemal reflected on the successful business and trade delegation from the Sialkot Chamber that visited Ethiopia in May 2024 under the coordination of the Ethiopian Embassy. He praised the chamber’s proactive role in strengthening ties and emphasized the untapped potential for collaboration in various sectors.
He highlighted that Ethiopia’s homegrown economic reforms have created a favorable investment climate, offering ease of doing business and a range of incentives for foreign investors. The Ambassador encouraged Pakistani businesses to explore vast opportunities in Ethiopia, noting that the upcoming exhibition and business forum present “golden opportunities” to build partnerships not only with Ethiopian counterparts but also with stakeholders across the African continent.
SCCI President Ikram ul Haq reaffirmed the chamber’s commitment to deepening trade ties with Ethiopia and assured full participation in the exhibition. He urged Sialkot’s business community to actively explore investment avenues in Ethiopia, describing it as a gateway to the African market.
The collaboration underscores growing commercial ties between Pakistan and Ethiopia and reflects a shared vision of economic cooperation through strategic trade engagements.
