Karachi, May 4, 2025: In a significant move amid rising hostilities with India, Pakistan’s Ministry of Maritime Affairs has imposed an immediate ban on Indian-flagged vessels, barring them from entering any Pakistani port.

The decision, formalized through Shipping Order No. 001/2025 issued in Karachi, also prohibits Pakistani-flagged ships from docking at Indian ports. The ban will remain in effect until further notice.

According to the official notification, any exemption requests will be considered individually and subjected to rigorous review and risk assessment.

The Ministry stated that the measure has been taken to uphold national and maritime security, sovereignty, and to safeguard Pakistan’s economic interests amid the escalating tensions between the two nuclear-armed neighbors.

This development comes against the backdrop of heightened diplomatic and military friction following the Pahalgam incident, which has further strained bilateral relations.
