Harare, May 4, 2025: Zimbabwe has recalled all-rounder Sikandar Raza to a revamped 15-member squad for their upcoming one-off four-day Test against England, set to be played at Trent Bridge, Nottingham, from May 22.

The 39-year-old Raza, born in Pakistan, returns to the national setup after missing the previous Test against Ireland and the two-match series against Bangladesh due to franchise T20 commitments. His inclusion signals Zimbabwe’s intent to field a competitive side in their first Test against England since 2003.

The squad also features wicketkeeper Clive Madande and fast bowler Newman Nyamhuri, both promoted to the main team, while Johnathan Campbell, Nyasha Mayavo, and Vincent Masekesa have been left out from the side that recently toured Bangladesh.

Craig Ervine will continue to lead the team, with experienced left-hander Sean Williams also retaining his place in the squad.

Head coach Justin Sammons, a South African native, expressed confidence in the team’s readiness:

“In terms of performance, I expect us to play to a standard that can compete with one of the best teams in the world,” Sammons said. “I want to see the guys believing they belong, embracing and enjoying the moment.”

Following the England fixture, Zimbabwe is set to face South Africa in a four-day match at Arundel starting June 3. The match is part of South Africa’s preparations for the World Test Championship final against Australia, scheduled for June 11 at Lord’s.

Zimbabwe Squad:
Craig Ervine (capt), Brian Bennett, Ben Curran, Trevor Gwandu, Clive Madande, Wessly Madhevere, Wellington Masakadza, Blessing Muzarabani, Richard Ngarava, Newman Nyamhuri, Victor Nyauchi, Sikandar Raza, Tafadzwa Tsiga, Nicholas Welch, Sean Williams
