Karachi, May 6, 2025: Veteran Pakistani actress, writer, and cultural icon Bushra Ansari has stirred a heated debate with her bold rebuttal to Indian lyricist and screenwriter Javed Akhtar’s recent anti-Pakistan remarks.

Akhtar made controversial comments targeting Pakistan in the wake of a suspected false flag operation in Indian-occupied Kashmir’s Pahalgam district, prompting Ansari to issue a fiery response that has since gone viral on social media.

Currently touring Germany and Switzerland for a series of fundraising events, Ansari used the platform to call out what she described as India’s “hypocrisy, flawed policies, and divisive narrative.” In her video message, she questioned India’s recent decision to deport Pakistani women who had lived in India for decades. “Why did you issue them visas in the first place if you couldn’t honour basic human rights?” she asked.

Directly addressing Akhtar, she didn’t mince words. “I don’t know what kind of person he is,” she said. “You don’t even believe in Allah, yet you speak with such arrogance about Pakistan. You’re nearing the end of your life—at least show some dignity like Naseeruddin Shah, who chooses silence over venom.”

Ansari also criticized Indian media personalities, referring to anchor Arnab Goswami as a “psycho case,” and condemned ex-military figures who routinely spew anti-Pakistan rhetoric on television.

Despite the strong language, Ansari drew a clear distinction between governments and ordinary citizens. She recounted meeting a warm-hearted Indian girl during her travels, highlighting that “people on both sides want peace and friendship. It’s the politicians and certain public figures who fan hatred.”

The actress’s candid remarks have reignited public discourse around Indo-Pak relations, the responsibility of celebrities in public dialogue, and the broader issue of cultural diplomacy amid rising political tensions.
