Islamabad, May 9, 2025: In a welcome development for electricity consumers, the National Electric Power Regulatory Authority (NEPRA) on Friday announced a nationwide reduction in power tariffs, providing relief through both monthly fuel cost and quarterly adjustments.

The revised rates will be reflected in electricity bills issued in May 2025, according to official notifications issued by NEPRA.

Consumers served by K-Electric will receive the largest relief, with a Rs3.64 per unit reduction granted under the monthly fuel cost adjustment for February 2025. For electricity users in the rest of the country — excluding Karachi — a 29 paisa per unit decrease has been approved under the monthly fuel adjustment for March 2025.

In addition to these, NEPRA has also announced a Rs1.55 per unit reduction under the third quarterly tariff adjustment for the ongoing fiscal year. This reduction will apply to all consumers nationwide.

NEPRA emphasized that separate notifications for each adjustment have been issued to ensure transparency and compliance. The authority confirmed that the relief measures apply to all electricity users, including those served by K-Electric, offering some respite amid broader concerns over inflation and rising utility costs.
