Islamabad, May 22, 2025: A high-level meeting was held at the Capital Development Authority (CDA) Headquarters in Islamabad, chaired by Chairman CDA, Chief Commissioner Islamabad, and the Director General of Civil Defence, to review key developmental initiatives for the capital city.

The meeting was attended by Member Administration, Member Estate, Member Environment, DG Environment, DG Resources, prominent architects, and other senior CDA officials.

A major highlight of the meeting was the detailed briefing on the establishment of a modern, state-of-the-art public library in F-9 Park, designed to serve citizens interested in reading and learning while enjoying the park’s natural ambiance. The proposed library will feature digital facilities, a co-working space, a social zone, and study areas, making it a hub for knowledge seekers and families alike.

Chairman CDA emphasized the global importance of libraries as centers for knowledge and personal development. He directed that the library must meet international construction and digital standards, including full e-library integration and connectivity with national and international digital repositories.

“Libraries are invaluable for those seeking knowledge. Our goal is to provide Islamabad’s citizens with world-class facilities, combining learning, leisure, and innovation,” he stated.

The library will also offer play areas and recreational zones for children, ensuring a family-friendly environment that blends learning and relaxation. A digital index, conference hall, and research center with lab facilities will further enhance its functionality.

The library is expected to house a collection of over 500,000 books, with the capacity for future expansion. Membership services will be made available for residents of Islamabad, fostering community engagement and literacy.

In addition to the library, the meeting also reviewed tourism and environmental projects, including the construction of a Theme Park, Adventure and Safari Park, and a 9-hole Golf Course in F-9 Park. Officials were directed to ensure these recreational facilities are built to international standards.

Chairman CDA also received updates on the development of CDA’s Gardenia Hub nursery, which is being upgraded to a modern horticultural center. An online application is being developed to allow citizens to purchase seeds, plants, trees, and flowers of their choice either online or on-site.

The meeting also touched upon the possibility of establishing a new museum in Islamabad, subject to necessary approvals and coordination with relevant departments, including the Culture Division and the Geological Survey of Pakistan. The museum could feature fossil displays sourced from abroad, adding to the city’s cultural and educational offerings.

These initiatives reflect CDA’s broader vision of transforming Islamabad into a knowledge-rich, environmentally sustainable, and culturally vibrant capital.
