Islamabad, May 23, 2025: In a high-level political huddle on Friday, Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif met with Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) Chairman Bilawal Bhutto Zardari to discuss the country’s strategic response to escalating tensions with India, along with the broader political and economic situation.

The meeting, held at the Prime Minister’s Office, focused on forging a unified national stance in the face of increasing regional volatility. Both leaders exchanged views on internal stability, external threats, and the need for cohesive diplomatic messaging.

During the discussions, Bilawal apprised the Prime Minister of his recent international engagements and shared insights from a Foreign Ministry briefing specifically addressing the evolving Pakistan-India dynamic.

In a significant development, Prime Minister Shehbaz entrusted Bilawal with the responsibility of spearheading Pakistan’s global outreach to promote peace and counter rising hostility from India. The decision comes at a time when Islamabad is seeking to consolidate political consensus on foreign policy.

Confirming the development via a post on X (formerly Twitter), Bilawal said the Prime Minister had personally requested him to lead a diplomatic initiative to present Pakistan’s case for de-escalation and regional stability.

“I am honoured to accept this national duty and will work tirelessly to represent Pakistan’s principled stance on peace and sovereignty,” he stated.

The PPP later announced that a special committee, chaired by Bilawal, will engage with international stakeholders to highlight Pakistan’s concerns over Indian aggression, rebut disinformation campaigns, and reaffirm Islamabad’s commitment to regional peace.

The meeting is seen as a rare display of cross-party cooperation at a critical juncture, underscoring the gravity of current security developments and Pakistan’s resolve to respond through unified, peaceful diplomacy.
