Lahore, May 28, 2025: Pakistan won the toss and elected to bat first against Bangladesh in the opening T20I of the three-match series at Lahore’s Gaddafi Stadium on Wednesday.

The home side made six changes to the squad that featured in their previous T20I assignment — a five-match series against New Zealand in March. Bangladesh, meanwhile, have retained the same playing XI that suffered a 2-1 series defeat to the United Arab Emirates earlier this month.

Pakistan playing XI: Fakhar Zaman, Saim Ayub, Mohammad Haris (wk), Salman Agha (c), Hasan Nawaz, Shadab Khan, Khushdil Shah, Faheem Ashraf, Hasan Ali, Haris Rauf, Abrar Ahmed.

Bangladesh playing XI: Tanzid Hasan, Parvez Hossain Emon, Litton Das (c), Towhid Hridoy, Mahedi Hasan, Jaker Ali (wk), Shamim Hossain, Rishad Hossain, Tanzim Hasan Sakib, Hasan Mahmud, Shoriful Islam.

Historically, Pakistan have dominated the head-to-head record in T20 Internationals, winning 16 out of 19 encounters. Bangladesh have registered just three wins in the format against Pakistan.

Both teams enter the series seeking redemption. Pakistan are aiming to bounce back after a 4-1 T20I series defeat in New Zealand, while Bangladesh look to recover from a historic low — their first-ever bilateral series loss to the UAE.

The opening match of the series presents an opportunity for both sides to reset ahead of a busy cricketing calendar.
