Quetta, September 20,2024-Balochistan is witnessing a rise in the number of Congo virus cases, with 32 cases reported this year, resulting in the unfortunate deaths of eight patients. Alarmingly, there is a lack of specific medication available for treating the virus in the province, and no proper diagnostic facilities are set up within the region.
According to health department officials, the affected individuals are from the districts of Quetta, Loralai, Qilla Saifullah, and Pishin. Out of the province’s 36 districts, 35 lack any facilities for treating those infected with the virus.
All patients are being referred to Fatima Hospital in Quetta for treatment, but complaints about the unavailability of proper treatment and specific medications for this disease are widespread.
