Bilawal urges Trump to facilitate Pakistan-India dialogue

Washington, June 6, 2025: Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) Chairman and head of a high-level parliamentary delegation, Bilawal Bhutto Zardari, has called on U.S. President Donald Trump to take an active role in facilitating comprehensive peace talks between Pakistan and India.

In an interview with Agence France-Presse (AFP), Bilawal stated that Pakistan is prepared to discuss terrorism, but insisted that any dialogue must prioritize the Kashmir issue. He cautioned that India is setting a dangerous precedent in South Asia by using terrorist incidents as justification for military aggression.

“The fate of 1.7 billion people in two great nations cannot be left in the hands of faceless non-state actors, nor dictated by India’s so-called ‘new normal’,” Bilawal said.

AFP noted that President Trump has frequently expressed concern over the risk of nuclear conflict in the region and reiterated the United States’ willingness to mediate between the two neighbors, potentially at a neutral venue.

In a separate interview with Chinese media in New York, Bilawal accused India of deliberately destabilizing regional peace through unlawful and unilateral actions against Pakistan. He warned that repeated cross-border violations threaten the broader stability of South Asia.

“Lasting peace can only be achieved through dialogue and diplomacy,” he emphasized. “While Pakistan remains committed to peace, it will not compromise on defending its sovereignty.”
