Extremist Hindus desecrate U.S. flag amid outrage over Trump’s Kashmir mediation efforts

New Delhi, June 12, 2025: Tensions have flared in India after U.S. President Donald Trump reiterated his intention to mediate the Kashmir dispute between Pakistan and India. In response, extremist Hindu groups staged anti-American protests, during which the U.S. flag was desecrated, an act widely condemned as deeply disrespectful.

According to eyewitness accounts and footage circulating on social media, protesters associated with hardline Hindu nationalist factions trampled the U.S. flag during demonstrations and used offensive language directed at the United States. One protester was seen spitting on the flag, calling the U.S. a “terrorist country.”

The protests erupted after President Trump claimed credit for helping de-escalate regional tensions and once again offered to assist in resolving the long-standing Kashmir dispute — a stance that has angered many in India, particularly supporters of the ruling Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP).

Chanting provocative slogans, protesters accused the U.S. of playing “dirty politics” and threatened retaliatory actions unless America supports their ideological agenda. “If you strengthen Pakistan, we’ll weaken you,” shouted one demonstrator, echoing the rising anti-U.S. rhetoric from fringe nationalist elements.

Analysts suggest that the protests are a reflection of the growing influence of the Hindutva ideology under Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s leadership. Critics argue that such actions not only strain diplomatic norms but are also attempts to divert attention from domestic failures and military setbacks — particularly in reference to tensions with Pakistan.

Observers warn that the desecration of international symbols, especially those of friendly nations, could damage India’s global image and diplomatic relationships.

So far, there has been no official response from the U.S. State Department regarding the flag desecration incident.
