Islamabad, July 14, 2025: A high-level meeting was held at the Capital Development Authority (CDA) headquarters on Monday to review the progress of key development projects in the federal capital. The meeting was chaired by CDA Chairman and Chief Commissioner Islamabad, Muhammad Ali Randhawa.

Senior CDA officials and key stakeholders were present, including Member Admin and Estate Talat Mahmood, Member Environment Esfandyar Baloch, Member Finance Tahir Naeem, Member Planning Dr. Khalid Hafiz, Member Engineering Syed Nafasat Raza, Deputy Commissioner Islamabad Irfan Nawaz Memon, and heads of departments including Works, Resource, MCI, DMA, Enforcement and others.

The agenda focused on the review and implementation status of several ongoing and upcoming development initiatives. These include infrastructure upgrades such as the Shaheen Chowk, Kashmir Chowk and Faizabad Interchange projects, as well as enhancements to the Pakistan Secretariat, installation of streetlights, and improvements in solid waste management.

Progress was also discussed on other initiatives such as the construction of the Islamabad Model Jail, upgradation of police stations, development of a food street in Blue Area, establishment of parking plazas, and transition to a cashless system in CDA operations. Recreational projects under review included plans for a Safari Park, Theme Park, Cable Car, Ferris wheel, as well as the installation of dancing fountains and the upgradation of 25 football and 25 cricket grounds.

Chairman Randhawa emphasized that improving the quality of life for Islamabad’s residents remains CDA’s foremost priority. He highlighted ongoing efforts to expand and upgrade major roads, resolve traffic congestion through new underpasses, and enhance public spaces including parks and sports facilities. He also mentioned the development of paddle courts and the modernization of pedestrian bridges.

To improve urban aesthetics and safety, the chairman directed that all major roads in the capital be equipped with modern and visually appealing lighting systems. A special multi-agency committee was formed to supervise this initiative, comprising officials from the Engineering, Environment, Finance, Sanitation, Building Control, Estate Management, Enforcement, MPO, MCI, DMA, Islamabad Administration and Islamabad Police departments.

The committee will be responsible for site inspections, overseeing repair and maintenance work, installing new lights, landscaping, and ensuring timely completion of development projects.

During the meeting, officials briefed participants on the status of the Blue Area Parking Plaza. It was reported that lift installation has been completed. Chairman Randhawa instructed that the remaining electrical and mechanical work, including the installation of fire extinguishers and other safety features, be expedited to ensure the plaza becomes operational for public use as soon as possible.

Chairman Randhawa reiterated that all development initiatives will be executed with full transparency and adherence to high-quality standards, with the ultimate goal of transforming Islamabad into a modern, livable and vibrant capital city.
