Lahore, July 19, 2025: The fourth spell of monsoon rains is set to begin in Punjab from Sunday (July 20), while several regions of Sindh, Balochistan, upper Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Gilgit-Baltistan, and Azad Jammu and Kashmir are likely to experience rainfall starting today.

According to the Pakistan Meteorological Department, the incoming weather system is expected to bring showers to various cities across Punjab, including Murree, Attock, Chakwal, Hafizabad, Gujrat, Faisalabad, Sialkot, Jhelum, Gujranwala, Toba Tek Singh, Sargodha, Mianwali, Dera Ghazi Khan, Bahawalpur, and Multan.

Authorities have issued flood and landslide warnings, urging all relevant departments to remain on high alert as water levels continue to rise in major rivers and dams.

In Sargodha, several low-lying areas were inundated on Saturday following heavy downpours, while rainwater also entered villages in Hafizabad. In Chakwal, key road infrastructure suffered significant damage due to flooding. In Renala Khurd, a breach in a rainwater drain led to flooding in agricultural fields.

Low-level flooding has been reported in Jhelum and Kashmore, and the River Indus is approaching dangerous levels at several key locations. Flood alerts have been issued for Kalabagh, Guddu, Chashma, Taunsa, and Sukkur Barrage, where river flow continues to rise.

Emergency response camps have been established in Leh, with floodwaters expected to pass through the area tonight.

Meanwhile, Balochistan has also been badly affected. Torrential rains have damaged road networks in Barkhan, Sibi, Musakhel, and Zhob, and standing crops have been destroyed in several districts, raising concerns about food security.

The Met Office has reiterated its advisory, warning of additional rainfall across Sindh, Balochistan, upper KP, GB, and AJK today, with a high risk of urban flooding, flash floods, and landslides in vulnerable areas.

Residents are advised to remain cautious and follow updates from local authorities.
