Islamabad, July 25, 2025: Prime Minister Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif on Friday chaired a high-level review meeting to assess progress on the appointment of technical experts across federal ministries and departments, and to evaluate ongoing efforts aimed at enhancing foreign investment.

During the meeting, the Public-Private Partnership Authority delivered a comprehensive briefing on ongoing initiatives and future strategies designed to streamline expert recruitment and boost investor confidence.

Emphasizing the government’s reform agenda, Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to institutional modernization. “We are fully committed to implementing our economic digitization plan, rightsizing public institutions, and ensuring merit-based appointments across government departments,” he said. The premier also underscored that merit and transparency would remain non-negotiable in all expert-level appointments.

The meeting was informed that, to date, 15 technical experts have been appointed, while the recruitment process is underway for an additional 47 technical positions. Furthermore, 30 candidates have been shortlisted for key leadership roles — including Chief Executive Officers (CEOs), Chief Financial Officers (CFOs), and Managing Directors (MDs) — across seven federal ministries and departments.

Initial interview rounds for posts in the Petroleum Division and the National Vocational and Technical Training Commission (NAVTTC) have been completed, the meeting was told.

To facilitate foreign investment, federal ministries have designated focal teams to develop sector-specific strategies. Investment roadmaps have been finalized for the Information Technology & Telecom, Railways, and Tourism sectors, while frameworks for food security, maritime affairs, minerals, tourism, industry, housing, and energy are in their final stages of development.

Officials also briefed the prime minister on the preparation of detailed pitchbooks for 18 economic sectors, aimed at securing investment from countries including Saudi Arabia, the United Arab Emirates, Azerbaijan, Qatar, and Kuwait.

The meeting was attended by Minister for Planning Ahsan Iqbal, Minister for Economic Affairs Ahad Khan Cheema, Minister for Law and Justice Azam Nazeer Tarar, Advisor to the PM on Industries and Production Haroon Akhtar, and other senior government officials.
