Islamabad, August 7, 2025: The National Electric Power Regulatory Authority (NEPRA) has approved a Rs1.89 per unit reduction in electricity tariffs under the quarterly adjustment mechanism for the April–June 2025 quarter.

The decision is expected to provide relief of Rs55.87 billion to power consumers nationwide, including those served by K-Electric. However, lifeline consumers and pre-paid meter users will not be eligible for this benefit.

The reduced tariff will be applicable for a period of three months, from August to October 2025, pending final approval by the federal government.

The relief comes following requests from power distribution companies for tariff adjustments under NEPRA’s quarterly framework. A public hearing on the matter was held on August 4, after which the regulatory authority issued its approval.

Quarterly tariff adjustments are designed to account for variations in power generation costs and capacity payments, and are independent of monthly fuel price adjustments.
