Gaza, October 8, 2024 – Civilians in Gaza continue to endure harsh living conditions, struggling to find food and shelter amid a growing sense of uncertainty, according to the International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC).

While Israel has recently shifted much of its military focus to Lebanon, life for Gazans remains dire, with insecurity and hardship still prevalent. ICRC spokeswoman Sarah Davies highlighted the ongoing challenges facing the civilian population.

“They’re still living in tents, unable to return to their homes, uncertain if their homes are even still standing. Every day, they struggle to feed their families, find clean water, and summon the energy to keep going,” Davies told AFP from Al-Mawasi.

Davies emphasized the fear and anxiety among residents, particularly in response to new evacuation orders. “People are tense every time they hear about another evacuation. On the ground, the situation is incredibly uncertain and frightening.”

Despite the shift in regional focus, the plight of Gazans remains a critical humanitarian concern.
