Dubai, August 26, 2025: Oman on Tuesday announced a 17-member squad for their first-ever Asia Cup campaign, with four uncapped players set to make their international debuts.

Led by veteran opener Jatinder Singh, Oman have been placed in Group A alongside heavyweights Pakistan, India, and hosts United Arab Emirates.

The squad features newcomers Sufyan Yousuf, Zikriya Islam, Faisal Shah, and Nadeem Khan, signaling a shift from the side that took part in last year’s ICC Men’s T20 World Cup in the United States and West Indies.

Head coach Duleep Mendis described the qualification as a landmark moment for Omani cricket, expressing confidence that the team can leave a mark on the continental stage.

“It is a reality that we are competing in the Asia Cup – a major tournament and a significant platform for our players to demonstrate their abilities internationally,” Mendis said.

“Playing against sides like India and Pakistan is a moment to be embraced by any cricketer. In T20, one over can change the game. Our preparation has been solid, with competitive exposure through the National T20 tournament and focused training sessions.”

Mendis emphasized that beyond skill, mental resilience would be key against top-tier opposition. He described the squad as a blend of youth and experience, determined to test themselves against Asia’s established cricket powers.

Oman’s entry into the eight-team Asia Cup 2025 represents a major step forward for the Gulf nation’s cricketing ambitions, with the tournament expected to provide a stern test of both technical ability and temperament.
