Islamabad, September 1, 2025: President of the Federation of Pakistan Chambers of Commerce and Industry (FPCCI) and Vice President of the SCO Chamber of Commerce, Atif Ikram Sheikh, has said that Pakistan’s membership in the Shanghai Cooperation Organisation (SCO) has opened new avenues of regional trade and economic cooperation.
In a statement issued on the sidelines of the 25th SCO Heads of State Summit being held in Tianjin, Sheikh described the summit as a “golden opportunity” for fostering collaboration aimed at regional development.
He said the summit not only enhances regional connectivity but also facilitates cross-border trade and eases the way for businesses to expand abroad. “The SCO has proven its significance among regional blocs,” Sheikh remarked, adding that Pakistan’s inclusion has strengthened trade prospects across the region.
Highlighting the SCO’s growing international role, he said: “The organisation is a guarantor of regional peace, and its increasing global responsibilities are encouraging.”
The FPCCI chief praised Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif’s “active and dynamic” participation in the summit, saying the entire nation values his role in advancing Pakistan’s interests.
Sheikh noted that the SCO Chamber of Commerce has worked tirelessly to promote B2B relations among member states, which will help businesses tap new markets. “I am hopeful this summit will prove to be a milestone in restoring mutual trust among member countries,” he added.
