Dubai, September 3, 2025: Players from Pakistan, Afghanistan, and the UAE registered notable progress in the latest ICC Men’s T20I Rankings, released on Wednesday, following their performances in the ongoing tri-nation series.
For Pakistan, middle-order batter Hasan Nawaz climbed two spots to 31st with 580 rating points, while skipper Salman Ali Agha made the biggest jump, leaping 18 places to 59th with 497 points. Fakhar Zaman, despite a lean run in the series, rose two places to 77th with 433 points.
Meanwhile, seniors Babar Azam and Mohammad Rizwan, currently out of the T20I setup, slipped to 21st and 22nd respectively. Saim Ayub dropped two places to 40th, while Sahibzada Farhan fell four places to 67th.
Afghanistan also made strides, with wicketkeeper-batter Rahmanullah Gurbaz moving up to 18th and Ibrahim Zadran surging 12 places to 20th with 606 points. However, veterans Mohammad Nabi, Hazratullah Zazai, and Najibullah Zadran lost ground.
From the UAE, captain Muhammad Waseem climbed five places to 26th with 591 points, while Asif Khan, who smashed a quickfire 77 against Pakistan, rose 13 spots to 88th. Alishan Sharafu, however, slipped to 91st.
At the top, India’s Abhishek Sharma and Tilak Varma retained the first and second spots, with England’s Phil Salt in third.
In bowling, Pakistan’s left-arm spinner Sufiyan Muqeem broke into the top 25, moving up 11 spots to 22nd with 594 points. Shaheen Afridi gained eight places to 26th, while Mohammad Nawaz rose 15 spots to 43rd. Haris Rauf, Abbas Afridi, Abrar Ahmed, and Shadab Khan slipped down the ladder.
For Afghanistan, skipper Rashid Khan held firm at eighth, with Fazalhaq Farooqi at 16th. Mujeeb Ur Rahman improved to 27th, while veteran Mohammad Nabi and teenager Noor Ahmad made major strides in the rankings.
Globally, New Zealand pacer Matt Henry continues to lead the bowling charts, followed by England’s Adil Rashid and West Indies’ Akeal Hosein.
