London, September 4, 2025: Pakistani international batter Haider Ali has been cleared of rape allegations in the UK after Greater Manchester Police determined there was insufficient evidence to support the claims made by a British-Pakistani woman.

Police and Crown Prosecution Service (CPS) sources confirmed that the case has been formally closed. Ali, who was represented by criminal law expert Barrister Moeen Khan, has since collected his passport from police custody and is now free to leave the country.

The 24-year-old was arrested on August 4 after a woman accused him of raping her at a Manchester hotel. She told police she first met Ali on July 23 and again on August 1 in Ashford, Kent, before filing her complaint four days later.

Ali, however, denied the allegation during questioning, telling investigators that the two were friends and that the accusation had “come as a shock.” He was initially arrested at the Spitfire County Cricket Ground in Kent, where he was taken from the players’ canteen by police officers.

During the investigation, the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) had provisionally suspended him from cricketing activities.

Ali, who made his international debut in 2020, has represented Pakistan in 35 T20 internationals and two ODIs.
