Islamabad, September 7, 2025: Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) on Sunday terminated the basic party membership of Gilgit Baltistan Chief Minister Haji Gulbar Khan along with 11 members of the GB Assembly for allegedly violating party discipline.
According to a notification, the lawmakers were expelled on charges of “violating party policy, forming a forward bloc, and voting against the party.” The notification also barred them from using PTI’s name, flag, or platform in any capacity.
Those expelled include Chief Minister Gulbar Khan, Shamsul Haq Lone, Raja Azam, Abdul Hameed, Amjad Zaidi, Haji Shah Baig, Suraiya Zaman, Raja Nasir Maqpoon, Mushtaq Ahmed, Dilshad Bano, and Fazlur Rahim. The party also issued a show-cause notice to former GB governor Raja Jalal Hussain Maqpoon.
Haji Gulbar, once a key PTI figure, was elected chief minister in 2023 with 19 out of 20 votes after the disqualification of Khalid Khurshid Khan over a fake degree case. He had earlier served as GB health minister during the PTI-led government.
