Shanghai, September 16, 2025: President Asif Ali Zardari on Tuesday met Yin Tongyue, Chairman of Chery Holding Co., Ltd. and Chery Automobile Co., Ltd., in Shanghai, and assured full government support for investment in Pakistan’s electric and green energy sectors.

President Zardari said Pakistan would extend policy support for new energy vehicles, electric buses, and local production of automotive components. He encouraged Chery to explore joint ventures in electric buses, mini trucks, green energy solutions, and charging infrastructure, while highlighting opportunities for collaboration in manufacturing, minerals, and energy storage technologies.

Mr. Yin briefed the president and his delegation on Chery’s global operations, technological innovations, and achievements in international markets. President Zardari welcomed the company’s growing interest in Pakistan and appreciated its plans to introduce electric buses and pursue localisation, saying these initiatives would generate employment for Pakistani youth.

The president was accompanied by First Lady Bibi Aseefa Bhutto Zardari, PPP Chairman Bilawal Bhutto Zardari, and Senator Saleem Mandviwalla. Sindh Ministers Sharjeel Inam Memon and Syed Nasir Hussain Shah, along with Pakistan’s Ambassador to China, Khalil Hashmi, also attended the meeting.
