Karachi, October 14,2024- Chairman of Pakistan People’s Party, Bilawal Bhutto Zardari, has said that a major conspiracy is underway to deregulate the agricultural sector. Speaking at the Benazir Hari Card ceremony in Karachi, he mentioned that the Benazir Income Support Program has gained international recognition for providing financial assistance to women. He stated, “We have given rights to the poor, farmers, and women.”

He added, “We are about to launch the Benazir Hari Card. The Benazir Income Support Program has become a global example. Shaheed Bibi used to manage the economy in a way that benefited the farmers.”

Bilawal Bhutto Zardari stated that even during that time, the IMF existed, and it was also said then that Pakistan was going through a critical phase. But Shaheed Mohtarma Benazir Bhutto made a bold decision, saying she knew better than all the experts sitting in international institutions and the federal capital. She made a courageous decision in favor of the farmers.

The Chairman of the People’s Party said that farmers were being economically destroyed, but due to the decisions made by President Asif Ali Zardari, an agricultural revolution occurred within a year, and our farmers prospered. Our entire economy stood on its feet.

He said, “If we examine the Pakistani economy today, every sector appears distressed and is facing challenges. As elected representatives, it is our responsibility to solve your problems, and it is for this purpose that the people have elected us.”

Bilawal Bhutto Zardari said, “Today, the entire system is in danger. There is a major conspiracy underway to deregulate the agricultural sector, driven by mafias, big business groups, industrialists, and international powers, at a time when climate change has become a matter of life and death.”

The PPP Chairman said that there could be no more foolish advice than deregulating the agricultural sector. Investment in the agriculture sector is the only path to the country’s development. Fertilizer factory subsidies should be stopped immediately, and the billions of rupees in subsidies should be given directly to the farmers. We must confront the conspiracy against the agriculture sector.

Bilawal Bhutto further said that the court’s job is to protect the constitution. This same court allowed Musharraf to create his own constitution. Iftikhar Chaudhry’s justice system doesn’t deliver justice to the poor farmers and laborers. They can hang us on the gallows; my father was imprisoned for 11 years; women in our household were dragged and arrested—Is this your justice? It cannot be like this. Our approach is one of reconciliation, not revenge.

The PPP Chairman also said that the party has proposed constitutional amendments. In line with Shaheed Mohtarma’s promises, we have provided amendment proposals. Together, we will demand judicial reforms. There is propaganda against these amendments. PPP representatives will explain to the public that we want swift justice through these amendments. I will meet Maulana Fazlur Rahman again tomorrow.
