Islamabad, October 14, 2024 – Security arrangements for the SCO (Shanghai Cooperation Organization) Summit have been significantly heightened in Islamabad, with the Pakistan Army deployed throughout the city to ensure safety during the conference.

The Metro Bus Service will be suspended from October 14 to October 17, and the Islamabad Police have issued a detailed traffic plan outlining the upcoming road closures.

The following routes will be closed: the roads from Malpur to Dhokri Chowk, Kashmir Chowk, and Serena Hotel. Additionally, the section from Rawal Dam Chowk to Kashmir Chowk and Serena Hotel on Murree Road will also be inaccessible. The route from Malpur to Abpara via the Srinagar Highway will remain closed.

To facilitate travel, alternative routes have been established for those coming from Murree and Bahria Town to Rawalpindi. Travelers can use Korang Road, Bani Gala, Park Road, and Rawal Dam Chowk to reach Faizabad. Those traveling from Rawalpindi to Islamabad may utilize the Ninth Avenue. Moreover, the Expressway will be closed from Faisal Avenue to Zero Point and Korang Chowk. From today until October 16, entry for all types of heavy traffic into Islamabad will be strictly prohibited.
