Sargodha, September 19, 2025: Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz declared on Friday that Pakistan has entered a new era of progress, while those sitting behind bars remain “stuck in the past.”

Speaking at the inauguration ceremony of eco-friendly electric buses in Sargodha, Maryam said, “The man sitting in Adiala Jail doesn’t realize the world has changed. He is now history, while Pakistan has moved forward. He posts daily statements on social media from jail thinking they will create chaos in the country — but they no longer matter.”

The chief minister highlighted that Pakistan’s economic trajectory had shifted positively since the return of PML-N supremo Nawaz Sharif. “There was a time when people said Pakistan would default. Now, every day brings good news. The stock market is breaking records, and global institutions acknowledge that Pakistan’s economy is improving,” she said.

Maryam also praised Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif’s recent visit to Saudi Arabia, noting that Saudi fighter jets offered an aerial salute to his plane. “That salute was not for a person, but for the dignity of Pakistan. Contrast this with a former prime minister who was once removed from a plane for his reckless actions,” she remarked.

She hailed the recently signed Pakistan–Saudi Arabia defence pact as a “historic achievement,” saying, “Shehbaz Sharif received unprecedented respect on Saudi soil, and the world witnessed it. Pakistan has been honored with the guardianship of the Two Holy Mosques — has there ever been a greater diplomatic success?” She also extended tribute to Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman.

Announcing the launch of the new fleet, Maryam said, “People of Sargodha, congratulations! Today, I have brought you the gift of 33 electric buses. A total of 60 buses have been allocated for the city and 105 for the Sargodha Division.”

Calling Sargodha the “city of falcons and lions,” she credited Nawaz Sharif and Shehbaz Sharif with transformative development projects for the region, particularly the motorway link. She also announced the establishment of the Nawaz Sharif Institute of Cardiology in Sargodha, citing the lack of a heart hospital in the entire division.

The Punjab CM further pledged financial support for flood-hit families. “Those who lost their homes in the floods will receive Rs1 million each. Within two weeks, cheques will start reaching the victims,” she assured.

Maryam added that the government was keeping staple food affordable. “Bread is available at Rs10 and Rs15. I am doing my utmost to ensure wheat prices remain stable,” she said.
