Dubai, September 24, 2025: Pakistan’s rising stars Abrar Ahmed and Sahibzada Farhan have made significant strides in the latest ICC T20I rankings, riding on the back of standout performances in the ongoing ACC Men’s T20 Asia Cup 2025.
In the batting charts, opener Sahibzada Farhan surged an impressive 31 places to 24th with 589 rating points after his match-defining knock of 58 against India in the Super Four stage. Teammates Salman Ali Agha and Fakhar Zaman also inched up three spots each, moving to 64th and 66th, respectively.
In contrast, Pakistan’s senior duo Babar Azam and Mohammad Rizwan, absent from T20I action since 2024, continued to slide. Babar dropped nine places to 35th, while Rizwan slipped to 38th. Struggling opener Saim Ayub fell to 55th, Hasan Nawaz to 58th, and Mohammad Haris to 90th.
At the top, India’s Abhishek Sharma retained the No. 1 spot, followed by Phil Salt of England in second. India’s Tilak Varma rose to third, pushing down Jos Buttler to fourth.
The bowling rankings saw Pakistan spinner Abrar Ahmed headline the update, breaking into the top five for the first time after leaping 12 places to fourth with 703 points. He now sits within striking distance of the top three, led by India’s Varun Chakaravarthy, New Zealand’s Jacob Duffy, and West Indies’ Akeal Hosein.
Pacers Shaheen Afridi and Haris Rauf also improved their positions, rising to 25th and 28th, respectively. However, others slipped down the table, with Sufiyan Muqeem down to 14th, Mohammad Nawaz to 46th, and Abbas Afridi to 44th.
In the all-rounders’ rankings, Saim Ayub held steady at fifth with 201 points. Mohammad Nawaz climbed one place to 17th, while Faheem Ashraf gained 12 spots to reach 39th. Shaheen Afridi and Agha Salman also made notable gains, moving into joint 71st after climbing 14 and 11 places, respectively.
India’s Hardik Pandya continues to lead the all-rounders’ chart, followed by Afghanistan’s Mohammad Nabi and Zimbabwe’s Sikandar Raza in second and third.
The rankings shift highlights Pakistan’s emerging depth in both spin and batting, with Abrar Ahmed and Sahibzada Farhan making a strong case as the team’s new-generation match-winners.
