Islamabad, October 2, 2025: President Asif Ali Zardari has reaffirmed Pakistan’s unwavering support for China, describing the two nations as “all-weather, iron-clad brothers”.

In an interview with Chinese broadcaster CGTN, aired Thursday, the president said all his visits to Beijing were “goodwill visits,” reflecting the depth of bilateral ties. “China is the future and all of the East will work with China,” he remarked.

Commenting on China’s Global Governance Initiative, Zardari stressed mutual respect for sovereignty. “Global governance means no country should walk into mine, and I should not walk into theirs. Respect for each other’s territory is essential,” he said.

The president assured that Pakistan stood by China in every situation. “We stand with China in good times and bad — not that I see China in difficulty, but we will be there if needed,” he asserted.

On the future of CPEC 2.0, Zardari called Gwadar a “great futuristic project” that would serve as China’s closest port link. “One day, future generations will thank both nations for envisioning this. Once operational, it will boost trade and employment, particularly in Balochistan,” he said, adding that security and economic growth must go hand in hand.

Highlighting the strength of bilateral ties, he reiterated Pakistan’s consistent support for Chinese positions globally. “Wherever I go, my first position is respect for China — for its people, its technology, for everything,” he stated.

The president further underlined the need for an “economic mindset rather than a marshal mindset,” saying prosperity and cooperation would ensure lasting peace.
