Lahore, October 16, 2024 – Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz has dismissed the assault allegations against a college security guard, calling them part of a fabricated story. In a press conference held in Lahore, Maryam Nawaz emphasized that the allegations were completely baseless and had been unjustly turned into a major issue.
She explained that the police received a report claiming that a student from a private college had been assaulted, but social media distorted these claims, spreading false information. According to Maryam Nawaz, an organized campaign was launched to mislead the authorities, following unsuccessful protests. She added that the student’s mother has called on authorities to expose those behind the conspiracy.
The Chief Minister revealed that the student in question had been hospitalized since October 2, making it impossible for her to have been involved in the alleged incident. “On the day the false report surfaced, the student was not even present at the college. The security guard, who was wrongfully accused, has been taken into police custody, but when questioned, no students had any knowledge of the supposed event.”
Maryam Nawaz strongly condemned the misuse of social media to spread misinformation and manipulate students, calling the situation dangerous. She stressed that there were no eyewitnesses because no such incident took place. A fact-finding committee has thoroughly examined the case, and the Punjab government is ready to take legal action against those involved. “Regardless of their political affiliations, those responsible will be brought to light by the FIA. I know exactly who is behind this,” she added.
