Guwahati, October 3, 2025: England rewrote the record books with a ruthless 10-wicket demolition of South Africa in the ICC Women’s Cricket World Cup at the Barsapara Cricket Stadium on Friday.

Opting to field first, captain Nat Sciver-Brunt’s bowlers dismantled the Proteas for just 69 in 20.4 overs — their third-lowest total in Women’s ODIs. South Africa’s lowest remains 51 against New Zealand in the 2009 World Cup.

Lowest totals by South Africa in Women’s ODIs

  • 51 v New Zealand, 2009
  • 63 v Pakistan, 2019
  • 69 v England, 2025
  • 75 v Bangladesh, 2012
  • 77 v England, 2013

In reply, England coasted to the target in style, sealing victory with 215 balls to spare — their fourth-largest margin in successful run-chases in the format. Their biggest came in 2013, also against South Africa, when they chased 78 with 243 deliveries remaining.

Most balls remaining in ENG-W successful ODI chases

  • 243 v South Africa, 2013
  • 241 v West Indies, 2008
  • 231 v India, 1982
  • 215 v South Africa, 2025

This was England’s third 10-wicket win in Women’s World Cup history, and notably their first-ever such result against South Africa in ODIs.
