Colombo, October 8, 2025: Pakistan captain Fatima Sana won the toss and elected to bowl first against Australia in the ninth match of the ICC Women’s Cricket World Cup 2025, being played at the R. Premadasa Stadium on Wednesday.

This fixture marks the 17th One-Day International (ODI) meeting between the two sides, with Australia holding a perfect record, having won all previous 16 encounters. Pakistan will be aiming to end that streak and register their first-ever victory against the reigning champions.

Pakistan heads into the contest under pressure after suffering defeats in both of their earlier World Cup matches, against Bangladesh and India. The team will be eager to turn their campaign around with a strong performance against the formidable Australian side.

Australia, meanwhile, has enjoyed a confident start to their World Cup campaign, opening with a comprehensive win over New Zealand. The side also carries momentum from their recent 2-1 bilateral series victory against India, further strengthening their credentials as tournament favourites.
