Mumbai, October 23, 2025: Following Team India batter Virat Kohli’s second consecutive duck in the ongoing ODI series against Australia, social media turned toxic as trolls once again targeted his wife, Anushka Sharma, blaming her for the cricketer’s poor performance.
“I blame Anushka Sharma for his failure,” one user wrote, while another commented, “Virat Kohli is a living example of how having a wrong partner can destroy your career. He might feel better about being a ‘gentleman,’ but at what cost?”
Some posts went further, with one disturbing message reading: “If God is real, she died today in London.”
The backlash prompted an outpouring of support from Anushka’s fans, who condemned the hate and called out the misogyny. “It’s cute how men’s fragile egos need a woman to blame every time their favorite player has a bad day,” one user wrote. Another added, “She’s been trolled since their dating days, people just want someone else to blame.”
A user named Anurag s-hared a clip on X (formerly Twitter), urging fans to “keep the match limited to the match,” as #AnushkaSharma began trending.
Kohli and Anushka, who tied the knot in 2017, share two children, daughter Vamika and son Akaay. The couple currently resides in London, a move that some users pointed to as an attempt to escape the persistent online toxicity.
