Rawalpindi, October 24, 2025: An anti-terrorism court (ATC) in Rawalpindi on Friday ordered the confiscation of the computerised national identity card (CNIC) and passport of Aleema Khan, sister of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) founder Imran Khan, after she repeatedly failed to appear before the court in the November 26 PTI protest case.
ATC Judge Amjad Ali Shah issued the orders while hearing multiple FIRs registered against Aleema and other PTI members over their participation in the Islamabad protest held on November 26 last year.
The move comes two days after the same court issued a non-bailable arrest warrant for Aleema for the fourth consecutive time over her continued absence from the proceedings.
According to case records, PTI supporters had entered Islamabad in defiance of a government ban on public gatherings and clashed with law enforcement agencies near D-Chowk, prompting police to use tear gas to disperse the crowd. The three-day protest was later called off following intense clashes.
The 2024 protest was aimed at pressuring the government to release the PTI founder, who has remained behind bars since August 2023 in multiple cases — ranging from corruption to terrorism — following his ouster from office in April 2022.
During Friday’s hearing, the ATC directed authorities to freeze Aleema’s bank accounts and instructed the National Database and Registration Authority (NADRA) and the Directorate of Immigration and Passports to implement the court’s confiscation orders. The court also ordered the seizure of property belonging to Aleema’s guarantor, Umar Sharif.
Judge Amjad remarked that while Aleema remained active in public, she had consistently avoided court appearances.
Special prosecutor Zaheer Shah and ten other accused attended the hearing; however, no legal representative appeared on Aleema’s behalf. The court adjourned further proceedings until October 27.
In a related development, an anti-terrorism court (ATC) in Lahore on Friday extended the interim bail of Aleema Khan and Uzma Khan till December 5 in a separate case involving an alleged attack on police during the PTI protest on October 5.
ATC Judge Manzar Ali Gul presided over the proceedings. Aleema appeared before the court as her bail expired, while Uzma filed an application seeking exemption from personal appearance.
The court instructed the prosecution to complete its arguments on the bail petitions at the next hearing.
