Baku/Islamabad, November 7, 2025: Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif arrived in Baku on Friday for a two-day official visit to attend Azerbaijan’s Victory Day celebrations at the invitation of President Ilham Aliyev, the Foreign Office (FO) said in a statement.

Upon arrival at Heydar Aliyev International Airport, the prime minister was received by Azerbaijan’s Deputy Prime Minister Yagub Eyyubov, First Deputy Foreign Minister Fariz Razayev, and Pakistan’s Ambassador to Azerbaijan Qasim Mohiuddin, along with other diplomatic officials.

Information Minister Ataullah Tarar is accompanying the prime minister on the visit.

According to the FO, PM Shehbaz will participate in events marking the fifth anniversary of Azerbaijan’s Victory Day during his visit from November 7–8.

“During the visit, the prime minister will also hold a meeting with President Ilham Aliyev to review the entire gamut of bilateral relations and identify new avenues to further deepen cooperation in diverse sectors, including trade and investment, energy, defence, education, and regional connectivity,” the FO said.

The statement noted that Pakistan and Azerbaijan enjoy long-standing fraternal relations, rooted in shared faith, history, and culture.

Both countries also maintain close cooperation at regional and international platforms such as the Organisation of Islamic Cooperation (OIC), the Economic Cooperation Organisation (ECO), and the United Nations (UN).

The FO said the visit would reaffirm Pakistan’s unwavering support for Azerbaijan’s sovereignty and territorial integrity, while advancing the strategic partnership between the two brotherly nations.

This marks Prime Minister Shehbaz’s third visit to Azerbaijan in 2025.

He previously visited Baku in February and attended the 17th Economic Cooperation Organisation (ECO) Summit in Khankendi from July 3–4, where he led Pakistan’s delegation.

During that summit, PM Shehbaz also met President Aliyev, with both leaders reaffirming their commitment to strengthening bilateral cooperation and maintaining regular high-level exchanges.
