Islamabad, November 25,2025: Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar met Ali Larijani, Secretary of Iran’s Supreme National Security Council, on Tuesday, with both sides reiterating their resolve to strengthen cooperation on regional and international issues, the Foreign Office (FO) said.
In a statement posted on X, the FO said the two leaders also agreed to “deepening bilateral ties in diverse areas,” signalling renewed momentum in Islamabad–Tehran engagement.
Larijani arrived in Pakistan on Monday and is scheduled to meet key political and military leaders during his visit. His trip comes just weeks after Iranian Parliament Speaker Bagher Ghalibaf’s visit, marking the second high-level Iranian delegation to Islamabad in a short span.
Ahead of his arrival, Larijani said on X that Iran and Pakistan were “important and influential countries in ensuring lasting security in the region,” emphasising the significance of strong, brotherly ties between neighbours.
He added that the Iranian people “will never forget” Pakistan’s support during the 12-day conflict between Iran and Israel in June.
Iran’s Ambassador to Pakistan, Dr Reza Amiri Moghaddam, called Larijani’s visit “unprecedented,” describing it as a pivotal moment in the long-standing relations between the two nations.
“This historic milestone marks a strategic shift… as emerging regional dynamics make it more essential than ever to elevate our bilateral relations,” he wrote on X.
The intensified engagement follows a series of high-level contacts between the two countries. In August, Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian visited Pakistan, where he met top civilian and military leaders. Discussions included counterterrorism cooperation — particularly along the Balochistan border — and developments in Gaza amid Israel’s military operations.
Pezeshkian also expressed the desire to enhance bilateral trade to $10 billion and sought Iran’s inclusion in regional trade initiatives involving Pakistan and China under the broader Silk Road framework.
During the visit, both sides signed at least 12 memoranda of understanding across multiple sectors, signalling expanding economic and strategic cooperation.
In October, Pakistan’s Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi travelled to Iran, where he also held a meeting with President Pezeshkian.
