Islamabad, November 29, 2025: Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) has announced plans to hold a protest outside the Islamabad High Court (IHC) on December 2, following continued restrictions on party founder Imran Khan’s access in Adiala jail.
PTI Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) chapter spokesperson Adeel Iqbal told a private news channel on Saturday that the party will respond to “any unlawful actions taken against them,” asserting that the days of “those violating the Constitution were numbered.”
Iqbal added that KP Chief Minister Sohail Afridi has arrived in Peshawar and summoned a parliamentary committee meeting on Sunday. “During the meeting, the chief minister will brief the participants on the situation outside Adiala jail. This time, there will be a well-defined strategy for meeting the PTI founder,” he said.
The upcoming PTI protest comes just two days after CM Afridi, for the eighth time since his election, was denied a meeting with Khan inside Adiala jail in Rawalpindi. Speaking at Gorakhpur checkpoint on November 27, Afridi said the party had exhausted “all legal and democratic courses” to secure the meeting.
In a show of protest, the KP chief minister staged a 16-hour sit-in outside Adiala Road, demanding a one-on-one meeting with the former prime minister. He later approached the Islamabad High Court to seek permission to meet Khan but was unable to meet the chief justice. “We were not heard. We received a message from the chief justice saying he cannot meet us,” Afridi told the media.
Meanwhile, Imran Khan’s sister, Aleema Khan, filed a contempt of court petition against the Adiala jail superintendent on Friday, citing non-compliance with an earlier court order allowing a meeting with her brother.
Later the same day, State Minister for Law Aqeel Malik indicated that a meeting could be allowed on Tuesday, December 2, depending on the security situation. “It was possible that either one of his sisters or one of his lawyers might be allowed to meet him,” Malik said.
He also stressed that the PTI was seeking a political meeting, noting that no political discussions occurred when people met PML-N President Nawaz Sharif during his incarceration.
