Islamabad, December 3, 2025: Prime Minister Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif on Wednesday conveyed Pakistan’s deep condolences and solidarity to Indonesia following devastating floods and landslides that claimed numerous lives and caused widespread destruction, particularly on the island of Sumatra.

In a telephone conversation with Indonesian President Prabowo Subianto, the prime minister offered heartfelt sympathies on behalf of the government and people of Pakistan, describing the tragedy as a profound human loss that Pakistan mourns deeply, according to a statement from the Prime Minister’s Office.

Reaffirming Pakistan’s unwavering support, Prime Minister Shehbaz assured President Prabowo that Pakistan stands ready to extend all possible relief and humanitarian assistance. He also offered to share Pakistan’s extensive experience in managing large-scale natural disasters — including emergency response, rehabilitation, and reconstruction.

Emphasising the shared vulnerability of both nations to climate-induced disasters, the prime minister underscored the importance of enhanced cooperation in disaster preparedness, crisis management, and long-term climate resilience.

President Prabowo expressed gratitude for Pakistan’s message of solidarity and said Indonesian authorities had responded swiftly and effectively to the unfolding crisis.

Prime Minister Shehbaz also said he looked forward to welcoming President Prabowo to Pakistan during his official visit next week, noting that the upcoming engagement would provide an opportunity to further strengthen bilateral ties and expand cooperation across areas of mutual interest.
