Dubai, December 12, 2025: Pakistan’s U19 cricket team thrashed Malaysia by 297 runs in their ACC Men’s U19 Asia Cup 2025 opener at The Sevens on Friday, powered by brilliant centuries from Sameer Minhas and Ahmed Hussain and a ruthless bowling display.
Batting first, Pakistan posted a commanding 345/3 in 50 overs, thanks to a massive 293-run third-wicket partnership between Sameer and Ahmed. Despite an early setback with Usman Khan dismissed for 1, the duo steadied the innings. Ahmed eventually fell hit-wicket for 132 off 144 balls, while Sameer remained unbeaten with a stellar 177 off 148 deliveries, including 11 fours and eight sixes.
In response, Malaysia crumbled under pressure, managing only 48 runs before being bowled out in 19.4 overs. Mohammad Sayyam and Ali Raza led the Pakistan bowling attack with three wickets each, supported by Daniyal Ali Khan with two and Niqab Shafiq with one. Muhammad Akram top-scored for Malaysia with just nine runs.
Malaysia captain Deeaz Patro’s decision to field first backfired spectacularly as his side struggled to handle Pakistan’s dominant batting and disciplined bowling. Nagineswaran Sathnakumaran claimed two wickets but was expensive, conceding 91 runs in his 10 overs, while Akram went for 64 in his quota.
The emphatic win sets a strong tone for Pakistan’s campaign in the tournament, highlighting their batting firepower and bowling depth.
