Islamabad, January 21, 2026: The Philippine Embassy in Islamabad has strengthened its diplomatic engagement in Pakistan through targeted initiatives in skills development and ASEAN solidarity, underscoring the Philippines’ role as a constructive and forward-looking partner.
On January 15, Ambassador Emmanuel R. Fernandez received a delegation from the Government of Punjab’s Skills Development and Entrepreneurship Department, led by Secretary Nadir Chattha, for a courtesy call at the Embassy. The discussion focused on potential collaboration in technical and vocational education and training (TVET), particularly in hospitality services, nursing, and allied health education—sectors where the Philippines has established expertise. Both sides agreed to initiate virtual engagements between institutions, with prospects for study visits and sectoral delegations to the Philippines later in 2026, highlighting skills development as a strategic pillar of Philippines–Pakistan cooperation.
Later the same day, Ambassador Fernandez joined Islamabad’s diplomatic community at the 78th Independence Day Reception of the Republic of the Union of Myanmar, hosted by Ambassador Wunna Han. His participation reaffirmed the Philippines’ commitment to ASEAN solidarity, regional dialogue, and active engagement within the city’s diplomatic corps. The event emphasized shared regional values of cultural respect, cooperation, and peace, while strengthening people-to-people and diplomatic ties among ASEAN member states represented in Pakistan.
These engagements reflect the Philippine Embassy’s continued efforts to translate diplomacy into concrete cooperation—linking education and human capital development with regional solidarity, and advancing Philippine national interests through principled and proactive diplomatic engagement.
