Islamabad, January 28, 2026: In a significant move toward national economic transformation, the Government of Pakistan and the Federation of Pakistan Chambers of Commerce and Industry (FPCCI) on Wednesday signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to collaborate under the “Uraan Pakistan” program, aimed at steering the country toward a $3 trillion economy by 2047.
The MoU was signed by Federal Minister for Planning, Development and Special Initiatives Ahsan Iqbal and FPCCI President Atif Ikram Sheikh at a ceremony held at the FPCCI President Secretariat.
The agreement seeks to align private-sector participation with the government’s long-term economic vision, placing export-led growth at the center of Pakistan’s revival strategy. The “Uraan Pakistan” program is based on a public-private partnership model and follows the “5Es” framework—Exports, E-Pakistan, Environment, Energy, and Equity.
Addressing a joint press conference, FPCCI President Atif Ikram Sheikh said the success of “Uraan Pakistan” was essential for the country’s economic survival. “To revive industry, we must ensure a conducive business environment, rationalize high interest rates, and provide competitive electricity tariffs,” he stated, emphasizing that the business community must be taken fully into confidence during the policymaking process.
Speaking on the occasion, Minister Ahsan Iqbal highlighted the critical role of the business community in helping the country avert the threat of economic default. He described “Uraan Pakistan” as a comprehensive roadmap for sustainable development and industrial revival, noting that Pakistan has achieved economic stability and must now shift its focus toward aggressive growth.
The minister also acknowledged the leadership of Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif and the support of the military leadership, stating that their efforts are being internationally recognized for restoring economic stability.
President FPCCI proposed several measures to ensure the program’s success, including district-level economic development to support small industries, targeted export strategies for high-potential products, and sustained inclusion of the private sector as a key stakeholder in future economic reforms.
The ceremony concluded with a joint commitment by both sides to work as “Team Pakistan” to achieve the objectives of the 13th Five-Year Plan and the country’s 2047 Centennial Vision.
The event was attended by prominent business leaders, including FPCCI Vice President Tariq Jadoon, Chairman Coordination Malik Sohail Hussain, former FPCCI President Zubair Malik, President Islamabad Chamber Sardar Tahir, President Rawalpindi Small Chamber Sardar Saqib Naseem, and other senior representatives of the business community.
