Rawalpindi, February 12, 2026: Pakistan Space and Upper Atmosphere Research Commission (SUPARCO) has successfully launched the country’s second indigenous Electro-Optical satellite (EO-2) from the Yangjiang Seashore Launch Centre (YSLC) in China, marking a significant milestone in Pakistan’s expanding space capabilities.
EO-2 was developed, engineered, and integrated at SUPARCO’s Satellite Research and Development Centre (SRDC) through in-house research and systems engineering, highlighting Pakistan’s growing expertise in satellite design, payload integration, testing, and mission readiness.
The satellite is designed to operate alongside EO-1, providing enhanced Earth observation under varying illumination conditions. This will improve surface feature interpretation, change detection, and continuity in imaging. EO-2 strengthens Pakistan’s Earth observation fleet, boosting data availability for national planning, resource management, and governance, while supporting the country’s goal of advancing reliable, domestically engineered space systems.
