Islamabad, February 17, 2026: Pakistan Telecommunication Authority (PTA) has announced that Pakistan has successfully retained its status as a Fifth-Generation (G5) regulator under the Regulatory Benchmarking Framework of the International Telecommunication Union (ITU).

According to the official statement, Pakistan achieved an overall score of 75.77 in the ITU G5 Benchmark 2025, reflecting sustained progress in regulatory reforms, spectrum management, competition policy, and digital policy alignment.

Pakistan first entered the G5 category in 2021 with a score of 58.64. The country improved its standing in 2023 with a score of 68.36, and the latest 2025 results demonstrate a continued upward trajectory in regulatory maturity.

With this performance, Pakistan remains within the ITU’s “Advanced” regulatory maturity range (60–80) and is steadily progressing toward the “Leading” tier (80–100). The achievement underscores Pakistan’s growing credibility in international telecommunications forums and further strengthens its position in global regulatory processes.

The PTA reaffirmed its commitment to enhancing regulatory excellence and fostering a competitive, transparent, and innovation-driven telecommunications environment in the country.
