Islamabad, February 24, 2026: The 12th meeting of the Standing Committee on Inter Provincial Coordination (IPC) was held on Tuesday at the Ministry of Inter Provincial Coordination in Islamabad under the chairmanship of Khawaja Izhar Ul Hassan, MNA.

During the meeting, the Ministry of Inter Provincial Coordination presented details of 34 unfunded and unapproved projects related to sports and tourism, with a total estimated cost of PKR 23,776.302 million, proposed under the Public Sector Development Programme (PSDP) for 2025–26. The estimated expenditure for the current fiscal year stands at PKR 1,179.84 million, while a demand of PKR 13,184.145 million has been projected for 2026–27.

Briefing the committee, the Secretary IPC informed members that cycling has been introduced for the first time as an organized sport in Pakistan, while e-sports has also been included in the curriculum. He said coaches have been hired in five schools and noted that Pakistan has won prizes at international e-sports competitions.

The Ministry of Planning, Development and Special Initiatives apprised the committee that around 700 tourist guides are currently being trained, adding that relevant service data would be made available on the ministry’s website.

While explaining the difficulties faced by the Pakistan hockey team during its tour of Australia for the Pro League tournament held in February 2026, the Secretary IPC said that incompetence and a lack of internal accountability were responsible for the embarrassment faced by the team.

The committee also reconstituted a sub-committee under the convenorship of Mehreen Razzaq Bhutto, MNA, with Anjum Aqeel Khan and Khawaja Izhar Ul Hassan as members. The sub-committee will review year-wise major achievements of the Pakistan Sports Board over the last five financial years, examine development and non-development funds, scrutinize grants provided, and assess unresolved audit objections along with reasons for their non-settlement.

The meeting was attended by MNAs Muhammad Idrees, Babar Nawaz Khan, Sheikh Aftab Ahmed, Waseem Qadir, Syeda Shehla Raza, Muhammad Iqbal Khan, along with senior officers from the Ministry of Inter Provincial Coordination.
